LABnormal + Kayton-Frazier Boys & Girls Club

This summer LABnormal PLUS will be collaborating with the Kayton-Frazier Boys & Girls Club of Savannah, Georgia to conduct and Summer Arts Program.

Kayton-Frazier Boys & Girls Club serves as a community center for children age 5 to 18 with the hope to instill qualities guiding them towards becoming responsible citizens and leaders. The center serves over 1,500 children in the Savannah area and has been successful in hosting events and proving a nurturing environment for the children to participate in activities such as sports, games and the arts. The summer program at the club is designed for 6 to 12 year olds.

The children will gain an introductory understanding of the basic design principles through 12 classes over a six week period over the summer of 2013. The main analog themes that will be addressed will include color, 2-D design and 3-D design. Over the course of the two weeks, these principles will be introduced and explored through various mediums including drawing, painting, and paper cutting and folding. These exercises will show the children various design techniques and approaches that can positively impact their environments.
