LABnormal
is a digital fabrication club developed at the Savannah College of Art and
Design (SCAD). It was created to allow students to explore design and
fabrication techniques regarding the digital discourse in architecture. The
club has developed LABnormal PLUS in an effort to foster community engagement.
The LABnormal+ Summer Art Program intends
to provide the children of the Kayton-Frazier Boys & Girls Club with an
introductory understanding of basic design principles. The main analog themes
that will be addressed will include color, 2-D design and 3-D design. Over the
course of two weeks, separate age groups will be introduced to these principles
and will explore various mediums including drawing, painting, and paper cutting
and folding. These exercises will show the children various design techniques
and approaches that can positively impact their environments. The projects
during each two week course will be divided into an introductory exercise,
individual project and a group project.
